YOUTH FOR SERVICE
For 50 years Youth For Service has been working to assist San Francisco’s youth in their search for a meaningful and productive place in their city. Beginning in 1957, with an idea to get young men off the streets and into community building projects, Youth For Service has grown and changed to meet the demands of the times. As we begin our next 50 years it is important that we find projects that will meet both the interests of our young people and the workforce needs our city. These interests and needs are changing so rapidly that today’s young people will be taking jobs 10 years from now that do not currently exist. Youth For Service is dedicated to ensuring that all San Francisco’s youth have an equal opportunity to prepare for this future. With this in mind we are pleased to join with San Francisco State University in a unique public/private collaboration to create our first project of the new era, a scholarship endowment that will offer young men and women an opportunity to build their dreams of being part of the new digital economy that is the future of our city and ultimately the world.
